On many parts made on lathes and milling machines there is a need to make internal keys. To make these keys it is therefore necessary to pass on to the slotting machine (where available, otherwise the work has to be done externally) and this requires long times, costly tooling, difficulty in clamping parts, and the execution of rework on which it is never easy to maintain high standards of precision.
